Rehoming & Surrender Programs

Rehoming Program

We help you responsibly rehome your dog while the dog remains in your home. Three Stooges Rescue will market your dog, screen applicants, and help coordinate meet-and-greets, but you remain responsible for daily care and providing complete medical/behavior history. Your dog must be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including rabies), and heartworm tested (dogs 6+ months).

$300 non-refundable service fee applies before posting begins.

Owner Surrender Program

Owner surrender means you are requesting Three Stooges Rescue accept your dog into our program and take over care and placement decisions. Acceptance is by approval only and depends on foster space, medical needs, safety considerations, and resources.

A heartworm test within the last 3 months is required before surrender can be accepted.

Non-refundable surrender fees:

$400 (fully vetted)

$500 (needs vetting)

$600 (heartworm positive)

Heartworm & Medical Cost Notice

Heartworm disease is serious and treatment can be lengthy and expensive. Costs commonly exceed $1,000–$3,000+ depending on the dog’s size and disease stage. If a dog is heartworm positive, the $600 surrender fee is a contribution toward care and does not cover all treatment expenses. Once a dog is accepted into the Rescue program, medical decisions and treatment plans are made by the Rescue and the attending veterinarian, and outcomes/timelines cannot be guaranteed.

Bite History "Dangerous Dog" Disclosure

For both programs, owners must fully disclose any known bite history, aggression, attacks, quarantine orders, animal control involvement, or prior “dangerous dog” investigations/designations. Florida’s dangerous dog process is governed by Fla. Stat. § 767.01–767.16 and local ordinances. For safety and liability reasons, the Rescue may decline dogs with certain histories or may require additional documentation (such as animal control reports or quarantine records) before moving forward.

Administration, Enforcement & Program Rules

This is a policy that explains program standards and requirements. If you move forward, the Rescue will require completion of the appropriate intake and disclosure forms (and surrender transfer paperwork when applicable). The Rescue may deny or discontinue participation if required records aren’t provided, information is inaccurate, safety concerns arise, cooperation stops, or capacity changes. All placement decisions are made with animal welfare and public safety as the top priorities.
